A NYC MUST

I have an amazing brother, and for Christmas this year-he got me a walking tour of NYC. So thoughtful and quite fun/creative for a guy. So, while my mom was in town, we took advantage!

So chose to do the west village (of course!), but they have tours of several neighborhoods. Each tour is unique to that part of the city. Not only do you get a food tour (3hrs), but a history (400 yrs) tour as well. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all the intricacy that make the west village, the west village.

This is a must and by far my favorite on the whole trip. This cheese place is unreal, more to come.
Where our tour started cornelia street in west village. Named after an initial resident's daughter. One of the cutest, small streets here and packed with quaint little restaurants, including one that has less than 20 total seats.
Amy's Bread wasn't on this trip, but i got distracted by these cute valentine's day treats.

First stop, great "new york" pizza, learned the appropriate way to make pizza.
Real cheese and burnt crust are signs of the real deal
Us having fun. It was cold!!
Olive and Co. is amazing. We tasted their olive oil with basil and a sweet one with honey. Loved it so much, we went back to buy more!
LeBigot-great crab cakes we were told...Small place on Cornelia
Pearl-On cornelia
Another cute place down the street.
Cornelia street
This used to be a horse stall and above it, one of the first send out laundries-they didn't even dry your stuff back then.
More cornelia st

Palma-this place is really cute. It was a house that the owners converted the front into a restaurant. Great Italian and a bit romantic!
Inside Palma
Part of the back house
Our food sample here, some mix of chopped up cauliflower-actually tasted pretty good.
The meat store, next to the cheese store
Thought this was funny-our sample at the meat store was a rice ball. Tasty, but not expected!
Inside the meat store

Inside tratoria-this is all real, original wood, including the floors

Check out the copper ceilings

This place has all kinds of risotto, all gluten free.
Another stop, the triangle Centro.
Fancy chandelier
The bar
Which drink?? We went with the coffee/baileys options because it was so cold
Their serving counter
More wine (back bar)
Our samples-tapas
On the tour, this house was between two famous houses with plates stating who lived there and what happened. These home owners were funny and put this up-on this site-nothing happened!
Second favorite!! The cookies here were warm, moist and melted in your mouth!

The world's narrowist house-9 ft wide!
An off broadway theater in the heart of the village

Love the feeling here, it is such a neighborhood in a big city
Hard to get perspective, but the door handle and mail slot are really short. Made this way back in the day because people stood on the second step and wore their heavy metal keys on their belt. Seemed appropriate then??

Cool little row housing set off from the street by a garden, guess this used to be the worst place to live because you didn't get the social invites from those walking through. Now these go for multiple millions!

The only remaining all wood house in the city.

 The "Friends" place
Inside the cheese shop, quote in the back-love is cheesy
 The counter to order
Their displays were amazing. So much variety-I had no idea
 Noodles for your cheese please
 Olive bar
Chocolate and cheese?? Guess they both come from milk-sort of
Our sample tray. Wish I could remember the names of the types-all were really good though and really different flavors
Our final stop. A gluten free option at a bakery/pasta shop.

We ended our day with this fabulous dessert! I ate mine so fast that I had to take a pic of the remaining pie:)
